World Tennis Challenge

Flickerfest International Short Film Festival
6 – 15 Jan 2012 – Bondi Pavilion, Sydney
Flickerfest, Australia’s premier short film festival, presents an impressive program of screenings under the stars at the Bondi Beach Pavilion in Sydney. It then tours nationally to other major cities January to March.
In addition to the annual focus on Australian shorts, Flickerfest offers an international competition, often with entries from as far afield as Romania, Thailand and Brazil. There are several awards up for grabs, including Best Film, with a prize of A$5000, Best Animation (A$1500) and the National Geographic Documentary Award (A$1000).
Parkes Elvis Festival
11 – 15 Jan 2012 – Parkes
Each January, the Parkes Elvis Festival celebrates the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s birthday with numerous activities and swarms of impersonators. The festival program is jam-packed with events rom tribute concerts to an Elvis Gospel Church Service and film screenings.
Elvis copycats arrive in their thousands, sporting elaborate costumes and quiffs, and in 2007 the event even achieved the world record for the most Elvis impersonators in one place. Lip-curling and hip-swivelling are obligatory and the once-simple phrase “Thank you very much” suddenly becomes an indicator of how well you’ve perfected the King’s trademark accent. The theme in 2012 is “Follow That Dream”.
21 Jan 2012 – Mt Compass
Mt Compass holds one of the wackiest Australia Day events: the Compass Cup, Australia’s only cow race. Men charge across the local football ground straddling dairy heifers and the rider who lasts longest wins! Don’t miss the day’s other cow-themed and rural events.
Tour Down Under

World-class cyclists face a grueling 800km challenge each year during South Australia’s Tour Down Under. The Southern Hemisphere’s answer to the Tour de France, the event is now a firm fixture on the prestigious UCI ProTour calendar.
